Comparison three travel backpacks bags Mogplof, Inatec and KakaAfter careful research I tested three backpacks for airline travel. I was looking for a backpack that would hold my laptop, iPad and clothes for a trip where I didn't want to take a checked bag:Mogplof 19.5”x15”x7”(9.5”) 40L - $ 48Inatec 21.65”×13.4”×7.87” 40L - $ 56Kaka 20.5”x12”x6.7” 35L - $ 59Inatec is a smidge taller and less wide, might be better suited for taller people. Mogplof is wide and not so tall (and expandable), probably more suited for smaller people. Kaka has a more robust look and sidewise falls in between the two.Below you can find a detailed review of all three - if you are interested:Shoulder strapsInatec backpack has the longest shoulder straps. With that I mean that the padded part of the strap is longer than the other two backpacks. The advantage of that is that there will be no buckle directly between your arms and body which can become annoying when walking a while.Mogplof backpack has the shortest shoulder straps and again it might not be an issue but I prefer the longer straps.Kaka bag has a middle length between the two but also is the only bag with a waist belt. The waist belt will help with the distribution of the pack and therefore the length of the shoulder straps works with this pack.Sternum strapMogplof sternum strap is adjustable because it is on a slider.Inatec is adjustable by carefully taking it off the strap and move it upwards.Kaka sternum strap is only adjustable within one piece of webbing, you cannot take it off and it is not working for me (woman), it is way to low. I might have to take it off and replace it with another one, or not use one at all.Cushioning in the back and storing of the backpack strapsAll backpacks have lots of cushioning at the back and all backpacks store the straps one way or the other. Mogplof within a zipper pouch, Inatec within a Velcro pouch and Kaka with a cover that you zip around all the straps. The Mogplof has buckles at the bottom to make sure you can release the bottom part, the Inatec has lobster swivel clasps. Both work, it is just what you’d prefer.Extra straps to carry the bag and/or shoulder strapKaka has an extra strap to carry the bag as a shoulderbag. There are also three handles on the bag available when the shoulder (backpack) straps are put away. The Kaka has two handles at the front to carry (or stow away in upper compartment) and there is a big handle at the side.Mogplof and Inatec both have a handle at the top and a handle at the side.Something weird at the Inatec is that when you carry the backpack the side handle is on the left side. Since most righties take of their left shoulder first then swing the bag to the right, that handle is very hard to reach in one movement.Main compartmentMogplof has a main compartment of about 28 liters but can expand so the whole bag is about 40 liters.Inatec has a capacity of 40 liters andKaka that I compared is 35 liter.The Inatec definitely looks much larger when filled with my contents. The same contents fit in the expanded Mogplof but the bag is a little wider and a little less tall, so it doesn’t look that big. The Kaka also holds all my contents and still looks pretty small in size.Main openingThe main compartment in the Mogplof has a mesh cover that can be zipped up for some more organization when opening the front flap. The flap opens width wise. This compartment houses the extensions zipper, so that is where the extra 2.5 inches of storage comes and goes.Inatec has the main compartment at the same place but the flap opens lengthwise and there is no mesh cover to contain the contents when opening the zipper.The main compartment in the Kaka bag opens from the tall top but zips down about 3/4 of the way. So it will not open flat but maybe when using packing cubes that is not a big issue.Laptop compartmentThe laptop compartment in the Inatec is only opening 1/3 of the height of the bag. It will fit a laptop and potentially an iPad but it doesn’t fold all the way open for a tsa run through like the Mogplof does.The Mogplof will also easily accommodate a laptop and an iPad - and like I said before - it will fold all the way open for easy tsa scanning.Kaka has a laptop compartment in the main compartment and in a front zipper compartment (15” laptop). So at the tsa checkpoint you either open the main compartment or the front compartment. Both will not be super fast, not like the Mogplof or Inatec.(I can fit my 15” laptop and ipad 12” in the front compartment so I would only have to open that front compartment. )Rain coverInatec providers a rain cover but for the Mogplof the description says the bag is water resistant and there is not rain cover. The Kaka provides a rain cover but only when you carry it as a backpack, not as shoulderbag.Front zipper pouchesThe differences at the front are just the differences.Inatec has two horizontal zippers that divide the space equally.Mogplof has a horizontal zipper at the bottom half and a vertical zipper at the top half. The vertical zipper is not reachable when you wear the backpack but if you unload the backpack on your right and set it down you can instantly reach in with your right hand.Kaka has a bigger front compartment where the zipper is hidden somewhat between a top section. There is also a top velvet compartment for phone or something.The compression straps on the Inatec have a little elastic black container band to keep the end of the strap together. Expandable size for heading home was able to fit an additional jacket and souvenirs for family.Dislikes: Sort of bulky when full but it has extra padding for electronic safety and comfort so I get why it's like that. It's still able to pass as carry on when expanded.The straps are nice with being able to hide but sewn a bit too close together at the top for my liking. The chest strap takes some weight off the shoulders when used as a back pack. I'm not really used to backpack style so it was nice to convert to a carry bag from the side or top handle. Do kinda wish I found one with wheels and a handle. The bit of extra bulk would be worth it I think.This is a nice bag. The material seems durable. I like that it has an adjustable water bottle cage on the outside. The storage compartment inside has a mesh zippered area so packing cubes aren't necessary. It also has a small, hidden pocket that sits against the low back when wearing it. Good spot for a passport. I am, however, returning it as the laptop storage area is so thick with padding it adds a lot of bulk. I don't carry a laptop on vacation anyway so this doesn't suit my needs. If you are carrying an expensive laptop this may be the bag for you as the laptop compartment is nearest to your back for balanced weight.It's great I packed for a trip to Europe and it for everything but if my sneakers hadn't been able to be so collapsible I'd have been stuck. If your clothes are smaller than it would be great..but as it was the bag was stuffed to the max capacity. I'm a guy size 38-40 pants and they took up a LOT of the space in the bag. Other than that it's a great bag for a weekend trip.The backpack was delivered in a timely manner. The quality is excellent and great for someone who doesn’t like to carry too much but still room to packed more than a few items in the carryon. The price was also reasonable.Overall a very good backpack. So far, it has held up, but again, I have not overloaded it. I wanted to replace a suitcase carry-on and for that it has met the challenge.This is backpack was perfect for my travels. I have an option to carry from side and/or top handle or carry as a backpack.
